Bus, boat and train services across the Lake District & Cumbria
The Lake District is a wonderful place to visit and the best way to travel around is by public transport so you can fully appreciate the scenery and visit the many attractions. You also avoid the hassles of driving and parking which all helps to save the precious environment by reducing vehicles across the area.
There are numerous buses, boats and trains serving the Lake District. Details of every public transport service are included and which Lake District attractions they visit. Some of these services also extend beyond the Lake District into north and south Cumbria. Towns and attractions on route in those areas are also included.

Lake District Buses
The extensive bus network in the Lake District and Cumbria covers many of the most popular routes across the area and is the ideal way for travelling and exploring. Many bus services operate all year round with more services added between Easter and November.

Lake District Boats
There are public boat services on four of the main Lake District lakes; Windermere, Derwent Water, Ullswater and Coniston Water. They all provide wonderful scenic boat cruises, often used for pleasure but most also connect with buses or trains allowing onward travel across the area.

Lake District Trains
There are a few train services within the Lake District which serve a number of towns, villages and attractions. Outside of the National Park, but still within Cumbria, there are many more services to local towns which have their own attractions or you can connect with the bus network for your onward journey into the Lakes.
